What is the difference between ‘pre-washed’ and ‘pre-shrunk’ fabric?
Some manufacturers (Lewis & Irene) manufacture their fabric on pre-shrunk fabric. We’ve also found that Lewis & Irene fabrics are extremely color-fast, and there is no chemical smell from these fabrics, which are manufactured in South Korea, not in China.
Most other fabrics are not printed on pre-shrunk fabric, so we do wash these for all of our custom die-cut kits. This helps to ensure color-fastness and reduced/no shrinkage for your finished project. Plus, have you ever tried to pre-wash pre-cuts? Yikes! It’s just easier for you if we take care of that step before cutting your fabric.
If for any reason you don't want your custom pre-cut kit fabric pre-washed, just let us know! We'll do everything we can to accommodate your needs. Our goal is--your quilt, your way.
How long does it take for you to ship my product?
It depends! Pre-boxed kits, standard pre-cuts and notions usually ship very quickly. Custom-designed and cut kits will definitely take longer! Fabric from the bolt has to be cut, so that depends a lot on our volume, but we usually ship within a couple of business days--often the same day!
What are 'dog ears'
Dog ears are the tips of triangle (and other angled pieces) that need to be trimmed after sewing blocks together. The dog ears on our angled pieces--including half- and quarter-square triangles are already removed. They are precision cut so that they perfectly show the start and end point for your perfect 1/4" seam. I can't tell you how much easier piecing a quilt is with this great feature!
